SENTELLA’S MUSIC AND SOUND POLICY IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.
We love Good Music!!
Bring your music to Sentella,
Please remember that Sentella is a family friendly event. Amplified sound is an integral part of any burn, Sentella will be no different. Artistic expression through the medium of sound is encouraged and appreciated.
NON AMPLIFIED SOUND / MUSIC HOURS:
Sentella is experimenting with non-amplified sound / music. This will give opportunities for quiet time, workshops, yoga, a lone guitar, a piano recital…etc.
Full amplified sound in loud zones is endorsed daily, in their prescribed loud zones (especially Friday and Saturday nights)
BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS:
No loud music when there is no one dancing or if there is no one around, people are probably sleeping and are too polite to ask you to turn the music down. If someone asks you to play quieter / turn down the sound / turn off the sound, and you are not surrounded by a group of people enjoying your music, be respectful and turn it down / off.
A ranger or sound marshal will have the right to ask you to stop playing and/or reduce your volume.
These are dedicated volunteers who are trained and entrusted to monitor amplified sound levels, ensure that participants are not violating the sound policy, educate participants about sound maximums and enforce the Sound Policy as necessary.
Level 1 – Normal standard hifi / radio without any modifications, alterations, additional sub woofers, etc. No more than 90db @ 10m This music / sound can be played anywhere.
Level 2 – Dance club sound levels. 90db @ 30m. Can only be played in buffer and loud zones. Please fill in the correct sizes of your sound system so you can be placed in the correct areas.
Level 3 – Large Club or stadium size sound, 100db @ 30m. These systems can only be played in the loud zone. Please fill in the correct sizes of your sound system so you can be placed in the correct areas.
THEME CAMPS AND PLACEMENT OF SPEAKERS:
Speakers must always face outwards, away from the quiet areas, place speakers off the ground and not directly onto the ground to minimise the traveling of sound waves along the ground. Each theme camp will be contacted and asked for details related to sound and placement of speakers. A sound marshal will sign off each theme camp after arrival and set-up.
SOUND – MUSIC – COMMUNITY – MUTUAL RESPECT:
DJs and other noise creating artists are an essential part of Sentella’s community. Many sound artists spend countless hours preparing for a limited time on stage. Please respect their art, whether or not you appreciate it.
Be self-reliant, bring ear plugs.
If you are having sound related problems, please talk to your neighbours emitting the sound and attempt to resolve the sound issue amicably, if necessary involve a ranger in the process.
Avoid going directly to a DJ who is performing, they probably cannot hear you, they are performing (you would never interrupt an actor in the middle of a play). Instead, locate the on-duty Sound Marshall or Ranger to discuss your concerns.
Express your concerns.
EMERGENCY SOUND DAMPENING PROCEDURE:
In the event that there is a formal complaint lodged by a local resident, police or any other official, event-wide sound will be dampened immediately.
Rangers and Sound Marshals will communicate the situation, please be respectful and immediately comply too the suggested sound output.
SENTELLA’S ALTERED AUTOMOBILE SOUND POLICY:
